The Orb Vibrator™ Review

Over the last four years, a lot of fun, quirky, and innovative sex toys have launched. The Rose, the Vaporator by Maia Toys, Pulse Galaxie by Svakom, just to name a few. Each offering something unique that changes the pleasure product industry as we know it. And now, The Orb is the latest cute & fun addition to the adult toy industry.

The Orb made my brain light up with nostalgic thoughts of going to the science center and giggling as my hands touched the plasma ball in a darkened room. This plasma ball is much, much smaller than that one, but dare I say that this one is much more fun to play with!

About The Orb Vibrator

At first glance, The Orb Vibrator is a beautiful teal toy, shorter in length than my cell phone. It has a quilted texture on the body-safe silicone, perfect for preventing slippage when you’ve got lubed up hands. The two buttons are on the back, one controlling the vibrations in the bottom of the toy and the other controlling the vibrations & plasma ball at the top of the toy.

Now, when I say “top” and “bottom”, these terms are actually interchangeable, as you can use either end of The Orb for stimulation. Both ends have independently controlled motors, each with 3 steady speeds and 7 vibration patterns. As someone with grip issues, I found holding the plasma ball end a lot more comfortable during self-pleasure. When using it on my partner, I was able to comfortably grip either end.

Designed for external stimulation, The Orb has a lot to offer. Use it to tease erogenous zones or press it against a clit or the glans of a penis. Use the plasma ball to light up your body as you run it against the most sensitive of spots.

This dual motor vibrator is made with body-safe silicone and nonporous plastic. It’s rechargeable and waterproof, though it was not designed to be submerged in water. Save using this toy for a shower. You can wash it under running water though, just grab your favorite toy cleaner to wash under warm water, then let it air dry.

Charging The Orb is easy, once you find the charging port. Located on the back of the vibrator, above the “DC V5” letters, gently push the included charging cord into the small circle, and allow it to charge for about 90 minutes. While charging, the two buttons will light up and slowly pulse until fully charged. The lights will go steady once the vibrator is fully charged up.

The Orb does have a low-power plasma ball, which does produce a low level of electric current. I didn’t find it strong enough for any sort of electro play, but if you have a medical device implanted, you should talk to a medical professional before using The Orb. The electrical current is not strong enough to interfere with cell phones, computers, wifi modems or other small electronics.

How to Use The Orb Vibrator

Once fully charged, press and hold the button with wavy lines to power on the bottom motor, or the star bust button to turn on the top motor & plasma ball. Once turned on, press either button to cycle through the speeds and patterns. When you’re ready to turn the vibrator off, press and hold the buttons to power down.

The included manual has 8 different suggestions for where to use The Orb. My personal favorite spots to use it are on nipples and as a clit vibrator. This vibrator isn’t really designed for internal usage, and I didn’t even try.

I suggest using The Orb vibrator in a dark room for full effect. I’m a big fan of mood lighting, and The Orb pairs really nicely with the mood lighting I have lining my bed and projected onto the ceiling. It’s not dramatic enough to provide a ton of light on it’s own, but it’s enough to help set the mood for some serious fun.

My Experiences with The Orb Vibrator

When I got the email from Peepshow Toys asking me if I’d review The Orb, I had a bit of a chuckle. I’ve seen a lot of novelty toys in my time, but I know how particular Peepshow Toys is about what toys they’ll carry. Toys have to meet certain standards, not just the owner’s standards, but the standards of the team as well. I knew that if Peepshow Toys was going to carry The Orb, it was worth checking out.

The day the box arrived, I opened it up and brought it into my wife’s office to show her. We cracked some jokes about orb memes that went around in late 2021, and I made my way to the bedroom to do some testing.

I was shocked with what I found.

The Orb vibrator actually has good power. Both motors are powerful, though I preferred the power levels I experienced from the bottom motor. The plasma ball end had power, but it felt a bit more wide-spread because of the plasma ball. The bottom motor however, doesn’t have anything spreading the vibrations out, so the power felt more intense. This might be a novelty toy, but it’s a novelty toy with powerful motors.

I love that the design allows users to use either end as a handle, as it makes this toy accessibility friendly to those with grip issues. As I mentioned earlier, I used the plasma ball end as a handle when self-pleasuring, but I switched back and forth between both ends when using this vibrator on my wife. We both had a lot of fun playing with The Orb, though as a couple, we primarily used it during foreplay rather than the main event.

Final Thoughts

Overall, The Orb Vibrator is a fun, unique toy that surprised me with how much power it packs. It may be a novelty, but this vibrator has a lot more power than I expected. The Orb made a great addition to foreplay, in part due to the plasma ball and in part due to the power.

If I were to recommend The Orb to anyone, I’d recommend it towards people who love mixing visual stimuli in with physical, sexual stimuli, and to people who want a versatile external vibrator that can bring pleasure to any & all body types.
